Posnack School has always been filled with ruach (spirit), whether it is in academics, arts, or athletics. Many different factors have contributed to school spirit, especially in athletics. During sports matches at Posnack School, athletes receive an abundance of support from the other students, faculty, family, and friends, as well as Posnack School’s mascot, Rammy the Ram.
Jonathan Rhein, a junior on Posnack School’s basketball team, comments about the support that he receives during his basketball games. “Dealing with the pressure of the games comes very easily because our coaches have confidence in us,” Rhein states. “I definitely think that my friends and family encourage me to play better. Seeing them cheering me on in the stands brings me energy on the court. It creates a good environment for everyone, and it makes everyone feel together, as one community.”
Along with the support that athletes receive from spectators, they also receive support from Rammy the Ram. Posnack School athletic coach Sammy Jackowitz reveals that Posnack School’s mascot truly does make a difference during the games. “Rammy likes to cheer on the basketball teams,” Jackowitz shares. “I think he helps bring energy and excitement to the games.”
As Posnack School continues to grow, spirit efforts will continue to support the athletics department and raise the spirits of the entire school.
