To the cast, crew, and teachers! Congratulations! After several months of hard work and dedication, the Posnack School production of Fiddler on the Roof was a huge success! Numerous individuals were involved in this production, both on and off stage. Tevye, the performance’s main character, was played by senior Sacha Codron. In this article, Codron will give the “behind-the-scenes” on Fiddler on the Roof and life in the theater.

During his four years at Fischer High School, Codron has acted in many Posnack School musicals, including Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Addams Family, and Fiddler on the Roof. For his role this year playing Tevye, Codron first met with a rabbi so he could learn more about how to portray Tevye. “I analyzed the script in depth to connect with the emotional core of the character,” Codron said. He also strived to perfect his character’s accent, working beyond the typical hours of rehearsal.

Codron reflected on his strengths and weaknesses as an actor. He says the easiest part for him is remembering his lines. “Memorizing lines comes naturally to me, which helps make performances feel fluid and authentic,” he said. “Once the lines are second nature, I can fully focus on delivering the character’s emotions and staying present in the scene.”

Yet, having done theater for several years, he mentions that one part of theater will always remain a challenge: dancing. “Dancing is my biggest challenge—I’m not naturally coordinated, and choreography takes extra effort. I overcame it with lots of practice and by relying on teamwork with my castmates,” states Codron.

Codron also shared his broader experience in Posnack’s theater program, saying, “The theater program has grown tremendously, with better sets, props, and technical work led by talented students. Each year, the cast becomes stronger and more dedicated, raising the quality of every production.” The program’s growth is partly due to the overtime hours cast members, such as Codron, put in. In addition to the cast members’ dedication, the faculty has helped the crew every step of the way.

Codron offers words of wisdom on what he has gained by being part of Posnack School’s thriving theater department. “Theater has taught me confidence. Performing on stage helped me embrace who I am and trust my abilities, a mindset that has strengthened me both on and off the stage.” Sacha Codron’s rave reviews of Posnack School’s theater program can convince anyone to get involved in the arts!
